Leia Stathakos, MD Director of The Weight Management and Healthy Lifestyles Program at Queens Hospital Center. Dr Stathakos graduated from The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at The City College of New York and completed the last 2 years of medical school at The New York College of Medicine in Valhalla NY. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. She is Board Certified in Integrative Medicine through The American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS). She is a 500-hour certified adult yoga teacher from The Omega Institute, Lifetime Fitness and Absolute Yoga. She is also a certified teacher in Primordial Meditation through The Deepak Chopra Center. Leia’s central focus is lifestyle medicine which recognizes how powerful factors such as food, exercise, stress, sleep and environment impact’s one’s health. Leia works on the premise that one plan does not work for everyone and she treats every person as their unique self and uses the best approach for them to be the healthiest they can be.
