THE MORCHAND CENTER
In addition to the didactic conferences outlined above, every PGY-1 at Queens Hospital Center has access to the Morchand Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This facility utilizes digital cameras to record encounters with standardized patients. This is an invaluable resource, because it allows our residents to improve and perfect their clinical and communication skills.
THE HHC INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL SIMULATION AND ADVANCED LEARNING
In addition to all the above, the residency training program supplements traditional medical education with a variety of supervised simulation courses given by the HHC’s Institute for Medical Simulation and Advanced Learning. These courses allow our residents the ability to hone their procedural skills in a low stress environment. Courses include central line placement, basic and advanced airway skills, and how to lead multi-disciplinary Rapid Response and Cardiac Code teams.
