I think the most important criterion for choosing an Internal Medicine residency is whether or not the program has enough confidence in the thoroughness of its teaching to allowinterns and residentsappropriate autonomy. This is exactly what we get here at Queens Hospital Center (QHC). An extremely knowledgeable and helpful teaching faculty adds to the experience. The environment at QHC is one that fosters growth, builds confidence and encourages teaching and learning in a collegial atmosphere. The educational experience is second to none, especially for residents who wish to pursue specialty fellowships. The favorable work schedule gives residents the ability to participate in research projects that are essential if they are to achieve their career goals. I am completing my residency at QHC in 2015 and chose to do a Cardiology fellowship at the University of South Dakota. I am very grateful for the opportunity QHC has given me, and looking retrospectively, I would choose QHC again without hesitation.
